Program Goal: Encourage Sustainability

An objective of the ISCP is to pursue comprehensive planning and development initiatives that are not only “do-able,” realistic, replicable, but also managed so that community resources and assets can be potentially shared by all future generations (long-lasting).

Program Goal: Build Capacity

Another goal of the ISCP approach is to encourages comprehensive planning and development initiatives that have the capacity to leverage community capital. In addition, it seeks to illustrate and build long-term partnerships among civic, community, and private stakeholders as well as between rural communities and the lead state organizations.

Program Goal: Foster Regional Impacts

The program emphasizes those comprehensive development initiatives that will have regional impact, demonstrate a long-term benefit to the community, and build on state and other investments.

Program Goal: Leverage Quality Places through Comprehensive  and Transformation Processes.

The ISCP approach seeks to empower rural communities to implement comprehensive development in a way that will be transformative to the community. It strives to encourage those efforts that address quality-of-place issues and have the potential for economic market forces to supercede after initial investments are underway.
